Charlie: A Chill Goat with a Cool Vibe

At Serendipity Sanctuary, every animal has a story—and Charlie’s is one of our favorites.

Charlie is a charming Nigerian Dwarf goat, a little older and a whole lot wiser. He spent the first chapter of his life as a beloved pet, doted on by a kind owner who eventually needed to retire and find a safe, happy home where Charlie could thrive. That’s when fate—and a chance encounter—stepped in.

His former owner happened upon Haystack Homestead at one of our events where we were raising funds for Serendipity Sanctuary, and something about the setup, the mission, and the energy made her stop in her tracks. She told us, “This looks like a life Charlie would love.” And she was right.

Charlie joined our sanctuary family a few years ago, and he’s been stealing hearts ever since. With his laid-back vibe and social spirit, he fits right in with our herd. But Charlie doesn't just enjoy the quiet farm life—he thrives on the road, too.

Whenever we bring out the Haystack Homestead Traveling Farm, Charlie is front and center. Whether it's a school visit, community fair, or educational event, Charlie shines. He’s a gentle soul and a natural with people of all ages. Kids adore his calm demeanor, adults love his quirky charm, and everyone walks away with a smile.

He may be older, but Charlie is full of life—and we’re honored to give him a place where he can be just who he is. His story is a beautiful reminder of why we do what we do: creating a place where animals are safe, loved, and celebrated.
