Meet Goose: A Sweet Soul in Need of a Second Chance

Goose is the newest rescue to arrive at Serendipity Farm Sanctuary, and we’re already smitten. We’re not entirely sure how old he is or what his full story might be, but we’re guessing he’s a sweet older gentleman who’s seen some tough times.

We first met Goose unexpectedly, while picking up another horse. His current owners had only taken him in a few days earlier. They had been told they were getting a plump, healthy pony for a cousin to ride. Instead, they arrived to find Goose in heartbreaking condition—severely underweight, with visible signs of neglect.

From behind, you can see just how severely underweight Goose is. He’s fighting to recover, and we’re here to help him every step of the way. On a positive note - he has a healthy appetite.

Not wanting to leave him behind, they brought him home out of compassion. But they quickly realized they were unequipped to care for an equine case this serious. That’s where we came in—and where you can, too.

He’s skinny, has a serioius case of rain rot, and his molars are so sharp they could cut metal—so he’s definitely in need of a good dental float. We’d also like to run a blood panel to make sure there’s nothing more serious going on, update his vaccines, and get a Coggins test. The good news? Goose has a great appetite and a sweet, gentle nature. With the right care, we’re confident he’ll thrive.

Goose's back is covered in a painful rain rot bacterial infection —just one of many signs that he’s been left out in the elements without proper care for far too long.
